Macallan 17 Year Old Exceptional Single Cask ASP-6355/04 (Distilled 2001, Bottled 2019)
The Macallan Exceptional Single Cask series represents the distillery at its most personal — individual casks, selected by the Whisky Mastery Team and bottled at natural strength with no dilution, each one numbered and unique. Cask #6355/04, an American oak sherry puncheon, was filled on 24th October 2001 and left undisturbed for 17 years before being selected and bottled in September 2019. With just 574 bottles produced, it is one of the rarest and most traceable Macallan releases available — every detail documented, every bottle numbered. A single cask of this calibre, from this distillery, at cask strength, is exactly what serious collectors come to auction to find.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Soft tendrils of wild honey over creamy vanilla, bright citrus, and oak slathered in toasted toffee and cinnamon-soaked pear. Sweet and inviting, with real depth building underneath.
Palate: Bites of spicy cinnamon sticks and aniseed over ground nutmeg, citrus, and sweet vanilla creamed with golden honey — rich, layered, and expressive at cask strength.
Finish: Medium to long — warm spice, honey, dried fruit, and gentle oak fading slowly and with real elegance.
Why This Bottle Is Worth Bidding On
- Only 574 bottles exist worldwide — one puncheon, bottled once, never to be repeated. This is one of the most limited Macallan releases available at auction.
- The American oak sherry puncheon format is distinctive within the Exceptional Single Cask range, imparting a lighter, more vanilla-forward sherry character than European oak casks — a different dimension of Macallan that many collectors actively seek out.
- Macallan single cask releases at cask strength consistently command strong secondary market prices, and the documented provenance — specific cask number, distillation date, bottling date — makes this exactly the kind of bottle that holds and grows in value over time.
