The Manager's Dram series occupies a very special place in Scotch whisky history. These were never commercial releases — they were cask strength single malts selected by individual distillery managers and distributed privately to the staff and friends of Scottish Malt Distillers (SMD). Bottled in 1989 at natural cask strength with no dilution, no filtration, and no fanfare, they were gifts rather than products — which is precisely why they are so sought-after today. This Glendullan 18 Year Old, drawn from a sherry cask and bottled at a formidable 64% ABV, is a textbook example: raw, powerful, and utterly authentic Speyside whisky from a distillery that has since been rebranded as The Singleton of Glendullan. You will not find Glendullan bottled like this anywhere else.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and sherry-driven — dark fruits, dried figs, Christmas cake, and warm spice with a deep, waxy Speyside character underneath. The strength is present but the wood and fruit hold it together well.
Palate: Bold and full — concentrated dark fruit, bitter chocolate, stewed plums, and clove spice, with the cask strength delivering an intensity that opens beautifully with a drop of water.
Finish: Long, warming, and dry — dark fruit and sherry oak echo across a slow, dignified fade, with the warmth of 64% ABV maintaining presence throughout.

Why This Bottle Is Worth Bidding On
- Manager's Dram bottlings were never sold — they were given. Every bottle that surfaces at auction has come directly from the hands of those who received it, making each one a genuine piece of distillery history.
- Glendullan at cask strength from a sherry cask is something that simply does not exist in today's market — the distillery now operates exclusively under The Singleton brand, making pre-rebrand releases like this irreplaceable.
- 1989 SMD Manager's Drams are over 35 years old and in diminishing supply globally — collector demand for the series as a whole continues to grow as stocks dwindle.
