George Urquhart — known simply as "Mr George" — is credited by many as the father of single malt Scotch whisky. As a director of Gordon & MacPhail through the latter half of the twentieth century, he championed the cause of single malt at a time when blenders dominated everything, quietly filling casks at Scotland's finest distilleries and waiting with extraordinary patience for the liquid to reach its potential. Glen Grant was his favourite distillery, and it is from those long-held casks that the Mr George Legacy series was born — five editions, each drawing on vintage Glen Grant distilled in the 1950s and matured for over six decades. The Second Edition is cask #3483: a single first fill sherry butt filled in 1957, matured for 64 years, and bottled on 9th November 2021 at a commanding 56.1% ABV. Just 298 bottles. An extraordinarily dark chestnut in the glass.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Rich and deeply complex — fruitcake, morello cherries, and dark dried fruits, with smoked cream, red berries, and a subtle underlying mintiness that makes this immediately distinctive.
Palate: Morello cherries lead, followed by dried tobacco and garden mint. Ripe red apple undertones combine with citrus peel, soft aniseed, licorice allsorts, and a warm, concentrated sherry depth that speaks to six decades in active wood.
Finish: Long and lingering — tobacco, peanut brittle, soft spice, and dried fruit fading slowly and with remarkable elegance for a whisky at this strength.

Why This Bottle Is Worth Bidding On
- 64 years in a single first fill sherry butt from a distillery that has been producing since 1840 — this is Scotch whisky at its most profound and irreplaceable. No new Glen Grant 1957 will ever exist.
- The Mr George Legacy series is one of the most critically and commercially significant whisky releases of the decade, celebrating one of the most important figures in the history of single malt Scotch. Each edition has attracted immediate collector interest and strong secondary market prices since launch.
- With only 298 bottles produced worldwide from a single cask, secondary market availability is extremely limited — and as one of five editions in a now-complete series, set-building demand from collectors will only intensify over time.
