Daftmill Summer Batch 2023 Release Whisky
Daftmill is a farm-based distillery owned and operated by the Cuthbert family. Its production is limited to the farm's quieter seasons - midsummer and winter - and may produce as little as 100 casks per year.
When not distilling, Francis Cuthbert takes care of the farm and grows Publican barley, the variety used to make this Lowland whisky, on the 43-acre field.
The barley was harvested by John and Sandy on August 28th and 29th, 2009 and stored on the farm to be malted in Alloa during the summer of 2010. Twenty-seven first-fill barrels, previously used to mature bourbon from Kentucky's Clermont Springs distillery, were filled during June, July, and August 2011 and later bottled in September 2023.
