Dufftown-Glenlivet 38 Year Old 1978 | Cadenhead's Authentic Collection | Single Bourbon Hogshead | 44.6% ABV | 180 Bottles | 70cl
Dufftown distillery has been producing quietly in its converted Victorian meal mill since 1895, its spirit serving as a heart malt for Bell's blends. Today it operates as The Singleton of Dufftown. This 1978 vintage was distilled under Arthur Bell & Sons ownership and spent 38 years in a single bourbon hogshead before William Cadenhead's bottled it in Spring 2017. Just 180 numbered bottles — from Scotland's oldest independent bottler, without colouring or chill filtration.

Tasting Notes
Nose: Classic Speyside bourbon cask taken to a deep conclusion — vanilla and coconut giving way to dried stone fruit, figs, light leather, nuttiness and gentle white pepper.
Palate: Long maturation in a single cask delivers a layered, integrated whisky — sweet wood spice, dried fruit and the distillery's characteristic grassy freshness, all concentrated.
Finish: Medium-long, warming — oak tannins and a lingering earthy sweetness.
Why This Bottle Is Worth Bidding On
- 38 years in a single bourbon hogshead from a 1978 vintage under Bell's ownership — genuinely exceptional aged Speyside from a respected era
- Cadenhead's bottled only 180 bottles from this single cask; non-chill-filtered, naturally coloured and traceable to a single year, cask and distillery
- Dufftown single malt at this age from an independent bottler rarely surfaces; the distillery's blending role makes aged releases genuinely scarce
